Paper Abstract:

Global providers of content and services have entered the media market, disrupting established value chains and business
models of national, regional and local media companies. This paper presents a study of Web 2.0 adoption by Danish
online newspapers and discusses the future of the newspaper in an increasingly globalized and virtualized economy. The
main conclusions are that Web 2.0 offers the opportunity for fundamental re-thinking of the business models of the news
industry and that this requires a framework for business modelling that reflects cooperative exchanges of value. |
